Splenic abscess

Splenic abscesses are less common than the liver ones. Untreated they are often fatal. Splenic abscesses usually develop following infection by hematogenous dissemination (for example, bacterial endocarditis).

Are commonly found in patients using immunosuppressive treatment. Clinic patient has left upper quadrant abdominal pain localized, splenomegaly, fever and leukocytosis. To explore the most sensitive diagnostic imaging is computer tomography.

The treatment of choice will practice splenectomy.
